In 2006, Dominick Paul Cerrone opened Good Mansion Wines with a simple belief: great wine should be part of everyday life, not reserved for special occasions. From an empty historic building grew one of the region's most respected collections of wine, food, and hospitality.

Twenty years later, that philosophy remains true for current owners Alex Panas and Betsy Sweeny. The duo met as colleagues working for the Wheeling National Heritage Area and share a commitment to community revitalization. Panas' expertise spans food and baking, while Sweeny brings a background in architectural history and preservation.

As the next stewards of Good Mansion Wines, we are honored to build upon the foundation Dominick created. Our goal isn't to reinvent what has made this place special, but to preserve its character while thoughtfully expanding what it can become. We believe the best food and wine experiences bring people together around a table, celebrate craftsmanship, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the people and traditions behind every product.

Our wine selection continues to reflect that belief. We remain committed to one of the area's most comprehensive collections of Old World wines, with an especially deep focus on Italy's twenty regions, alongside exceptional selections from France, Germany, Spain, the New World, and West Virginia. We believe there's a wine for every occasion, from simple weekday dinners to celebrations you'll remember for years to come. Our job is simply to help you find it.

That same philosophy extends throughout the shop. Our shelves are filled with carefully sourced cheeses, salumi, olive oils, vinegars, pasta, and pantry staples imported from producers whose traditions span generations. These are the ingredients we love to cook with ourselves and we return to time after time for their quality, authenticity, and the stories they tell.

In our bakery and kitchen, everything begins with craftsmanship. We bake breads, pastries, and desserts from scratch, make fresh pasta in-house, prepare seasonal lunches, and continually look for ways to blend European tradition with the rhythms of our local community.

Our goal is for Good Mansion Wines to continue to be a place where people feel welcome, ask questions, discover something new, and leave excited to share it with others. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue that tradition.
